When applying to universities in the United States, you might wonder if you are doing the right thing or if, on the contrary, you might hurt your chances.

What to do:

• Prepare early, at least 1 year before applying, and keep track of deadlines.
• Research each university thoroughly.
• Align extracurricular activities with your goals and values to show a clear application path.

What not to do:

• Lie or plagiarize in essays.
• Include extracurricular activities without a genuine interest, just to impress university admission officers.
• Apply to only one university. It is recommended to apply to 5 to 8 universities, divided into safety, match, and reach schools.
